📨 How do private chats work?

The Private Chats tab in the bottom menu holds all your one-on-one conversations with other players.

Sending messages

Each message can be up to 240 characters — plenty of room for some friendly post-match banter.

Text accepts common mobile-keyboard punctuation, including iPhone smart quotes and Hebrew geresh/gershayim. When enabled, confirmed friends can also send each other voice notes and images.

Gifts you send or receive show up right inside the chat too, so the conversation tells the whole story.

While the other player is writing, a small typing indicator appears at the bottom of the conversation. It disappears automatically when they stop, send, leave the chat or lose connection.

Pinning important chats

Press and hold a conversation in the chat list to pin or unpin it. Pinned chats stay at the top, and you can pin up to 3 at a time.

Sent and read

Your outgoing messages show a receipt icon. It turns blue after the other player reads the message — but only while both players have Read Receipts enabled in Settings. Turn yours off and read status is hidden in both directions.

Never miss a message

A new message adds an unread badge to the Private Chats tab. If notifications are enabled, you also receive a push notification while the app is closed.

Hiding a received message only for you

Press and hold a message you received, choose Delete, and in the Delete for me? dialog confirm Delete again. The message is hidden only from this chat on this device; the other player still sees it.

Deleting a message for everyone

Press and hold your own sent text, voice or image message and choose Delete. In the Delete message? dialog, confirm Delete again. The message is replaced with “This message was deleted” for both players. This works while the delete option is available for that message.

Deleting a chat

Deleting a chat only hides it from your list — the history isn't erased, and if a new message arrives, the conversation pops right back into your list.

Delete for me hides one received message on your device. Delete for everyone replaces your sent message with a deletion marker for both players. Deleting the chat hides the conversation only from your chat list.
